Alex Burnett is a composer/sound designer for games, film & TV and a member of BAFTA Connect. He is also skilled in arranging/orchestration, audio editing and mixing. He has a Masters in Composition for Film and Television from the University of Bristol, as well as a Bachelor of Music from Royal Holloway, University of London.

 

Alex began writing music and designing soundscapes for theatre (including his critically acclaimed scores for theatre company Encompass' What It Feels Like and Stasis) and has since moved on to working on game, film & TV soundtracks. Alex has over 10 years experience writing soundtracks for media, including on a number of high-profile projects. He has worked on everything from indie to AAA titles. Currently, he is working with Inflexion Games (ex-Bioware studio) on the music for their highly anticipated new shared world survival crafting game Nightingale which was featured in a trailer (scored by Alex) at The Game Awards 2022. Previous clients also include Frontier Developments (Planet Zoo, Planet Coaster, Jurassic World Evolution 1/2) where he wrote some of the music for F1 Manager 2022. Alex also worked as composer/sound designer on narrative adventure game The Wanderer: Frankenstein's Creature (Switch, PC, iOS/Android and coming to PS4/PS5 soon), a co-production of European TV network ARTE and French games studio La Belle Games, for which his work was nominated in the category of 'Best Soundtrack' at the Ping Awards 2020. His other game audio work includes sci-fi puzzle-platformer 'The Mimic' (PC), educational children's app 'Bean&Gone: PlayPatch' (Mobile) and Midnight Mood Studio's neo-noir co-op detective game Antioch: Scarlet Bay (iOS/Android).

 

Alex wrote the score for Road Kill, a thriller film starring Guy Henry (Holby City, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) directed by Steve Ramsden and produced by Unexplored Films. He also scored the BBC Earth award-winning ZSL wildlife film 'Giants on the Edge' and received a nomination for Best Original Score for his work on medieval fantasy series '9Realms' at international film festival Los Angeles CineFest. In addition to composition/sound design, Alex has experience working as music arranger/director on a number of TV shows including Channel 4's BAFTA award-winning The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan, The Last Leg and All Star Happy Hour where he collaborated with artists including Bastille, Shaggy, UB40 and TLC. Other notable film/TV clients include Panasonic UK and Channel 4. He has also written numerous production music tracks over the years which have been featured in everything from TV documentaries to adverts (most recently his music was featured on an HMRC radio ad campaign for three years running).

 

Alex is currently working as Composer for Canadian game studio Inflexion Games on their highly anticipated new title Nightingale which will be released in Early Access 1st half of 2023.
